Choosing accommodation

Read a story about friends planning a trip and finding the perfect place to stay. After that, you will have several questions to check your reading comprehension.

Anna, Carlos, and Mei were best friends. They studied together at the same university. Every year, they went on a short trip together. This year, they decided to go to the seaside. They had already chosen the town they wanted to visit, but they still needed to find a place to stay. The friends sat down together with a laptop and started searching for accommodation. There were so many options. They chose three different places to compare.

The first option was a hotel near the beach. It had a swimming pool and a restaurant. The room had three beds, a TV, and a small bathroom. The price was 120 euros per night. Mei said that the hotel looked nice, but she reminded her friends that they were students and did not have a lot of money. Anna agreed and said that this price was too much. She suggested that they look at something cheaper.

The second option was a hostel 500 meters from the beach. The price was only 40 euros per night for all three of them, and that included breakfast. Carlos said excitedly that it was very cheap. He also read that there was a common room with games and a kitchen. However, Anna was not sure. She pointed out that there were six beds in one room and that they would have to share the room with other people. She said that she did not feel comfortable with that. She explained that she wanted a private room for the three of them. Mei agreed and said that she also wanted privacy. She suggested that they could find something different – not too expensive, but private.

The third option was a small apartment. It was one kilometer from the beach. The apartment had one bedroom with two beds, a sofa bed in the living room, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. There was also a balcony with a nice view. The price was 75 euros per night. Anna said happily that it was perfect. She explained that they would have their own space and that they could cook their own meals and save money. Carlos added that the beach was only one kilometer away and that they could walk there easily. Mei smiled and said that she loved the view and that they could sit on the balcony in the evening.

They booked the apartment immediately and paid for five nights. Everyone was happy with the decision. On the day of the trip, they arrived at the apartment. It was exactly like the photos. The rooms were clean and bright. The balcony had a beautiful view of the sea. The friends knew they had made the right choice.
